Stir Fry Kai Lan (芥兰) with Garlic

Ingredients

 

  1. Kai Lan (芥兰)
  2. 4 clove of garlic (chop)
  3. 1/2 cup stock (or water)
  4. ½ teaspoon salt
  5. ¼ teaspoon corn starch
  6. 1 chinese table spoon cooking oi 

Method 

  1. Stir the corn starch with a 1 table spoon of water.
  2. Soak and wash the kalian, and cut into pieces.  Use a peeler to lightly peel off some of the skin of the stalk, as kai lan stalk has a very thick outer layer skin.
  3. Heat the wok, put in oil, and garlic.  Fry till fragrance and lightly browned.
  4. Add in vegetables, stir fry for 2 mins.  Add stock and lower heat and cover to simmer for 2 mins.
  5. Push the vegetable to a side so to leave the boiling water exposed, add salt and corn starch solution into the water and stir till thick gravy.
  6. Stir in vegetables with the gravy and serve.
  7. Serve hot.
